STLE Releases New White Paper Exploring the Latest Advancements and Future Outlook for Electric Vehicles
PARK RIDGE, Illinois (July 12, 2022) – The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) — the premier technical society serving the needs of the tribology and lubrication engineering business sector — is pleased to announce the release of its new white paper, Tribology and Lubrication for E-Mobility: Findings from the Inaugural STLE Conference on Electric Vehicles.
The 32-page white paper captures findings from STLE’s inaugural Tribology and Lubrication for E-Mobility Conference in November 2021. The conference included more than 20 speakers from leading companies and organizations with an interest in e-mobility, providing unique perspectives to help unify requirements for lubricants operating in electric vehicles (EVs).
The white paper was prepared by Dr. Neil Canter of Chemical Solutions, STLE technical advisor and a member of the STLE EV Conference Planning Committee. In this piece, Neil summarizes the key findings and challenges discussed in the conference and provides other related content, addressing topics such as requirements for potential e-fluids and how the demand for industrial lubricants will be affected by the increased manufacture of battery electric vehicle (BEV) parts.
“The revolutionary shift from internal combustion engine powered vehicles to BEVs has significant ramifications for producers of automotive lubricants, industrial lubricants and raw materials used in their manufacture,” said Canter. “STLE is leading the charge for identifying the technical challenges and commercial opportunities related to EV technology.”
STLE’s new white paper is now available in print and digital formats and is free to both members and non-members. Postage charges will apply on print copy orders. To order the white paper, click here, visit http://www.stle.org or call (847) 825-5536.
The rapidly moving development of EV technology has prompted STLE to organize The Second Annual STLE Tribology and Lubrication for E-Mobility Conference on November 30-December 1, 2022, at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, Texas. The two-day, hybrid technical conference will offer virtual and in-person participants the opportunity to attend educational sessions, networking and group discussions, and panel discussions with industry experts on the latest advancements and outlook for the electric vehicles market.
STLE encourages all interested parties to submit speaker abstracts by August 15, 2022. Presentations will cover a wide range of topics, including EV hardware, grease, EV drivetrain efficiency, testing requirements for EVs, thermal management, sustainable mobility, electrification and EV lubricant formulation. Presentation suggestions on fuel cells, hydrogen internal combustion engines and other topics are also welcome along with panel discussion recommendations. Conference attendee registration will open in September 2022. To submit an abstract, click here.
